Celebrate 60 years of Her Majesty’s reign with Britain’s favourite tenor, Russell Watson, and a sensational programme of music including Land of Hope & Glory, Jerusalem, the Hallelujah Chorus, We’ll Meet Again and Rule, Britannia! in the magnificent splendour of the Royal Albert Hall.
Joined by soprano Natasha Marsh and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Russell will also sing, You’ll Never Walk Alone, Men of Harlech, Danny Boy, Flower of Scotland and many more.
The self-styled ‘People’s Tenor’ has sold millions of albums worldwide with his trademark mixture of Italian arias and pop classics. Recognised as the UK’s biggest selling classical artist of the 21st century, he has broken a succession of records. Russell’s debut album ‘The Voice’ released in 2000, reached number five in the UK pop charts and broke worldwide records by holding the number one position in the classical chart for a year. It was only knocked off the top spot by his follow-up album ‘Encore’. His most recent album, ‘La Voce’ – Italian for his famous ‘Voice’ nickname – reached number 13 in the UK album charts in 2010.

On Sunday 3 June, The Queen will lead The Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant, a flotilla of up to 1,000 boats on the river from the UK, the Commonwealth and around the world, an event which promises to be one of the major focal points of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The flotilla is expected to measure 7½ miles from end to end and will be the largest fleet of ships to be assembled on the River Thames in 350 years, continuing a royal tradition which dates back to 1533 when Anne Boleyn travelled by boat for her coronation.
Rowed boats, working boats and pleasure vessels of all shapes and sizes will be beautifully dressed with streamers and Union Jacks, their crews and passengers turned out in their finest rigs. The armed forces, fire, police, rescue and other services will float alongside historic boats, wooden launches, steam vessels and other boats of note. The flotilla will be bolstered with passenger boats carrying up to thirty thousand flag-waving members of the public placed centre stage (or rather mid-river) in this floating celebration of Her Majesty’s sixty year reign. The spectacle will be further enhanced with music barges, boats spouting geysers and pyrotechnic barges spitting smoke and daytime fireworks. There will also be specially constructed elements like a floating belfry, its chiming bells answered by those from riverbank churches, all magnificently bringing the River Thames to life.
